On the second day of classes at CU, Travis was looking for a familiar face to sit by and found Rebecca. This was their second class together and he recognized her from a class the previous day. Each day Rebecca and Travis found themselves sitting next to each other in the two classes that they shared and became quick friends. This friendship would turn into a romantic relationship by the end of the semester. After winter break, Travis took Rebecca home, to Carbondale, to meet his parents. It was on top of Aspen Mountain that Rebecca and Travis had their first official date.
Rebecca had just graduated from graduate school and was definitely in need of a reward for all of her hard work. Rebecca, Travis, and two friends decided that Cancun was the perfect place to relax and celebrate Rebecca’s accomplishments. With endless emails from Travis’ parents asking if he had popped the question yet, Travis knew that their last day in Cancun was the perfect time. Travis proposed in their beautiful room, asking Rebecca if she would “put up with him for the rest of her life and marry him,” and she responded with “of course she would.”
On September 13th, Rebecca and Travis were back where it all started – Aspen Mountain. It provided the perfect scenery for guests and Travis really wanted to get married on top of a mountain. With both sets of parents having homes in Carbondale, it allowed for Rebecca and Travis to spend time with family and welcome guests to a place that was so close to their hearts. The whole day was filled with personal touches from Rebecca and Travis writing out the whole ceremony, creating the program, menu and some of the decorations. Rebecca and Travis wanted guests to experience the adventure that they had found in the mountains, but one that was easy and comfortable. The perfect solution was a gondola ride to the mountain top lodge. Rebecca loved walking down the aisle to see the beautiful setting and seeing her groom waiting for her. They loved their first dance, that didn’t go as planned, but was still fun and memorable. They could not picture their day without the family and friends that surrounded them and the memorable speeches from the wedding party. One of Travis’ favorite parts of the day was his gondola ride that he took with his dad and grandpa.
The adventure continued for Rebecca and Travis as they traveled to Bali for their honeymoon. They toured the island, visited temples, journeyed to Java, went to local markets and took a Balinese cooking class.
Shannyn: How was working with Adam?
Rebecca and Travis: Travis was in charge of finding a videographer and discovered Adam’s website online. Travis does video and photography for a living so it was important for him to find an aesthetic that he liked and he found Adam.I (Travis) really liked the quality of shots in Adam’s previous work, and the clear care he took in his editing and story-telling. He also gave us a lot of confidence when we met with him because, not only was he super pleasant, but it was also apparent how excited he was to shoot our wedding. Working with Adam was so wonderful – he was kind and fun. I would definitely recommend him to other couples!! Adam was great. He was unobtrusive, but you could get a sense that he wasn’t missing anything. He was very personable, warm, and fun loving – which is exactly what you want on a wedding day.
I had the privilege of working with DevonKPhotography on the wedding day of Rebecca and Travis. Here are a few of her shots from the day:
