Nikki and Jim’s story took off in the fall of 2009 when they both started eHarmony. Nikki was giving online dating one more chance, as she didn’t have success with another site. She decided that she would give eHarmony a three month trial period and if she didn’t find anyone then she would lay low for a while. After filling out the extensive questionnaire, her results came up with “no current matches.” Needless to say, Nikki did not have much hope in the next three months.
In her last month, it finally happened…she was matched with Jim. Nikki was very excited because 1) Jim was hot (her words), 2) Jim was smart and 3) they shared the same values. In the back of Nikki’s mind she kept thinking about how fast they could get to the open message portion without having to pay for a longer subscription. Jim was quick with his responses and was on limited time, as well, with his subscription ending soon. With the disapproval from Dr. Warren (founder of eHarmony) they quickly jumped to personal email!
As the personal emailing took off, it was quickly discovered that Nikki would not be in Colorado for six weeks for a school break and they would not have the chance to meet until she returned. They were left with only one option…write 66 LONG emails back and forth over the six weeks and plan to meet on January 4th when Nikki would be back in Colorado.
They agreed to meet at Domo, but when Nikki pulled up she started to doubt Jim’s place of choice. She pulled up to an industrial building with railroad tracks and hoping that she wouldn’t die. Nikki parked the car, looked in the mirror one last time, told her mom where she was and got out of her car.
When they saw each other, they immediately embraced one another, like long lost friends. Dinner led to a long conversation, where they ended up getting kicked out of the restaurant because it was an hour past closing. They decided to go grab coffee until about 12:30am when they thought they would call it a night. The dreaded question came of, would there be a first kiss? The kiss came and goodbye came two hours later. And from that moment on they became inseparable and best friends.
Five years after their first contact with one another a proposal came. Nikki and Jim were in Nederland, Colorado at a mining competition with some friends. Sunday started out as a typical day with the competition events playing out. Jim and their friend, Luke, were starting their double jack competition and Nikki moves out from under the tent to get some awesome pictures of Jim. When the competition was over James, the DJ, handed Jim the microphone where he starts talking about the mining industry. The speech took a turn when Jim started talking about family and this really important girl in his life. At the end of his speech, he was rummaging through his bag and pulled out a box and got down on one knee. Jim asked if Nikki would marry “a dirty, old, country boy” and she said yes.
Nikki’s wedding dreams and visions came to life when she and Jim said “I do” on August 29, 2015. The fun began when Nikki and Jim got ready with their bridal party, exchanged gifts and Nikki’s grandma made breakfast. Nikki loved the first look, being walked down the aisle by her dad and sharing an epic father-daughter dance. The day could not have gone better and Nikki’s dad said it so perfectly when he told her, “I know this is supposed to be your happiest day of your life, but let me tell you, its the happiest day of my life.”
Nikki and Jim spent extra time in Steamboat after the wedding with family and friends. In March of 2016, they will travel to celebrate Nikki’s grandma’s 85th birthday. With Nikki’s parents and grandparents, Nikki and Jim and take a river cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland.
Shannyn: How was working with Adam?
Nikki/Jim: Nikki did an EXTENSIVE online research and interview vetting of potential videographers in the Denver area and not only was AdamFusion rated very well, but when we went to meet with Adam he was exactly what we were looking for in terms of budget and overall “feel” of video. We also loved that we would get all the raw footage of the day, which a lot of the videographers that we talked to said they would not provide. This was important to us given we would have our grandparents there and we want to keep that footage and all those moments. Adam was absolutely awesome to work with. He, along with Haley, were my “dream team.” I would recommend him to anyone looking to have a videographer at their wedding. He was one of my vendors that I simply didn’t have to worry about — which really says a lot. Some vendors along the way you kind of have to “steer” in the right direction of what you want and where you need them to be but Adam was not that way at all, which is totally what you want in a videographer. He showed up when he needed to, is totally fun to have around, and is an absolute pleasure to work with. Bar-none, best videographer I know about — and like I said before, him working along side Haley Allen was such a great team. Having a personable videographer and photographer team is SO important because it makes your photos and videos look that much more authentic. The more comfortable you are with the people behind the big fancy equipment, the better your images are going to turn out — and we are proof of that!
