This wedding season has been one for the books. But we were so thankful to get to celebrate with Sydney and Alec and create their Larkspur wedding film. Their love story is pretty sweet, too. Let’s go back to the beginning!

Smashing Success

Sydney and Alec met in college but the meet-cute is not quite what you’re thinking. One night, Sydney and a few friends were having a chill night, just hanging out by a fire. But some other friends insisted they come down the street to a raging party that was going on. Sydney agreed and upon arriving, Alec and four other people were standing on a table, singing happy birthday to Alec’s friend. 

Well, naturally, the table crashed and one of Sydney’s friends who had also been on the table hit her head on the way down. Alec came over to see if she was alright. He asked Sydney if she was sober enough to take care of her friend. When Sydney explained that she was sober because she had church in the morning, Alec declared that he wanted her to pick him up and bring him too! Sydney didn’t think that he was serious, but in the morning, he texted her saying he was ready. They went to church together, hung out a few more times after that, and then were inseparable.

Lakeside Vail Proposal

Always the romantic, Alec planned an elaborate proposal in Vail. Before their trip, Alec’s friend texted them a selfie of a hike he’d been on in Vail. He said Sydney and Alec definitely needed to check it out. With the seed planted, Sydney insisted they do the hike when they got there. At the trailhead, there was a place to rent canoes, which of course, Sydney wanted to do as well. They paddled across the lake to a place where Alec has set up pictures hanging from the trees, lights, rose petals, and champagne. He explained the significance of all the pictures and then proposed. Of course, Sydney said yes, and shortly after, both of their moms and sisters came out of hiding and celebrated with them.

A Beautiful Larkspur Wedding Film

While there were hints of a COVID wedding, like chairs spread 6 feet apart, Sydney + Alec were able to have a fairly normal wedding! One aspect that made their wedding special was how they made sure their faith and relationship with God was central throughout the day. They both felt like God was present which meant a lot to them. 

One of their favorite moments was doing a blind letter reading before their first look. And they also shared that the memory of seeing each other down the aisle is one that will stick with them forever. 

And, Sydney and Alec had quite the epic dance party with their friends and family to top it all off. We were so thankful to be able to be there and film the whole thing so they can share the memories with friends and family and relive their wedding day throughout their years together.
