There is the familiar saying that love is blind but in this case it was a blind date the led to love. Caitlin and a friend were supposed to go to lunch that week but Caitlin’s friend had to cancel. Instead, Caitlin’s friend asked if she wanted to go to a firefighter banquet that Saturday and be a date for her husband’s friend. Caitlin agreed to the date, not knowing that her date would win Firefighter of the Year (Caitlin felt like she had won the jackpot)! After the banquet, Caitlin, Doug and the other firefighters went out to a bar where they were able to get to know each other a little better. After a few drinks it was suggested to Caitlin and Doug that they should just head to Vegas and get married that night. A fun first date led to a second date where they discovered that they had a lot in common and the rest became history.
After a few years of dating, Doug decided that it was time to take the next step and put a ring on Caitlin’s finger. In the summer of 2013, Caitlin and Doug were at Doug’s family’s beach house, where they go every summer. Like many summer days, Caitlin and Doug found themselves sitting on the dock looking out over the water. Looking for a distraction, Doug pointed out into the distance and asked Caitlin what was swimming out in the water. When Caitlin saw nothing out in the distance, she turned and found Doug down on one knee.
Caitlin and Doug’s big day was filled with family, friends and countless memories. Sea glass colors were all around to reflect the North Carolina beach house and Adirondack chairs were used place card holders — a sure sign that the beach holds a special place in Caitlin and Doug’s hearts. The perfect summer weather was a great backdrop for Caitlin’s grand entrance into the ceremony as she rode in on an old school firetruck. Caitlin and Doug loved hearing the speeches from their bridal party, enjoyed delicious food and great company as they partied at the reception!
The newly married couple is looking forward to a honeymoon in Antigua — a trip that they plan on taking next year.
Shannyn: How was working with Adam?
Caitlin: Adam and I met through networking as I used to do some modeling and Adam does some fantastic fashion films. His level of expertise and professionalism was unmatched since the moment I met him. Adam is so fun and I truly consider him to be one of the biggest parts and successes of my wedding. I would recommend Adam and his videography for many things, not just weddings. He can literally turn any moment into magical memories!
