If you follow our blog and our videos, you know the Rocky Mountains are one of our favorite places to film weddings. This Crested Butte wedding video was no exception, and our time spent with Elsa and James was heartwarming. But at Aflatis, we are all about story telling so let’s visit the beginning of their love tale before we dive into the big day.
Rock Climber Match Made in Heaven
When you ask people you know how they met their significant other, many people nowadays say they met online. But most people probably can’t say they were a 98% match like Elsa and James were.
After connecting online, Elsa and James had their first date at a rock climbing gym since they are both avid rock climbers. A few hours of climbing were followed by a beer. It didn’t take long for the two to realize they were meant to be.
Mountain Proposal
These outdoor lovers spent as much time in the mountains as possible. So it only made sense James would choose a backpacking trip in Crested Butte to propose. When the start of the trip didn’t go as planned, they got to their camp site much later than expected.
But James quickly set up the camera on a tripod to get a “sunset picture.” In reality, he got down on one knee and asked Elsa to spend forever with him. Of course, she said yes and they spent the next few days celebrating in Crested Butte.
Return to the Scene of the Crime
Because the proposal in Crested Butte was so memorable, Elsa and James chose Crested Butte Mountain Resort for their wedding and reception location. Family is very important to both Elsa and James so they gave their family members many special ways to participate in their day.
Elsa’s mom grew all the flowers used in the wedding and arranged them with the help of aunts and her grandmother. James’ brother performed music during the ceremony and his sister officiated the wedding. Elsa’s father even also wrote and performed a song during the reception.
Aside from these touching moments, Elsa and James also loved their first look. It was a moment between just the two of them when they could embrace the reality of the day and the bond they were about to seal.
When all was said and done, Elsa and James said they wouldn’t change a thing about their wedding day. Everything came together beautifully and the two are now in a wonderful new chapter of life as newlyweds.
What Was It Like to Have Aflatis Capture Your Crested Butte Wedding Video?
When asked what it was like working with Aflatis and Adam, Elsa said, “We heard about Adam from our photographer, Steve Stanton. We were originally ambivalent about spending the extra money for a videographer. However, when we saw Adam’s videos we were blown away by the quality and passion in the films. His videos were unlike any we had watched, and we had watched dozens.
We felt like above and beyond the amazing quality of the footage, Adam really captures the story of who the couple is. We knew that if we did a video, it had to be with Aflatis. I think it may honestly be one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding.
Adam was phenomenal to work with and we would definitely recommend him to other couples. He was genuine and kind on our wedding day and was fully engaged the whole time. He is so warm and made me feel calm and relaxed the entire day.”
