Katie + David

The following is an interview done by Briony with Briony Hope Photography:

I (Briony) did a little Q&A with this amazing couple and loved getting to know them.  They really are a true love story.  Really, they are MFEO (yes I just wrote MFEO).

How did the two of you meet?

Katie: We met at church about 7 years ago. I remember meeting him and thinking he was really cute and having a thing for him. We got to know each other while being at church, but I really got to know him these past 2 years having both of us moved back to Colorado.

David: We met at church about 7 years ago and got to know each other while hanging out with the same group of friends, going on camping trips, road trips, and just being at church together.

When did you fall in love?

K: I would have to say it has happened over time, but there was a distinct periodof time where I made the choice in my heart that he is who I wanted, who I loved, and who I wanted to marry. We were in Alaska one year ago and I just knew he was the one I wanted. We were on the Kuskulana Bridge on our way to Kennecott and it was there that I told him that I was in love with him and wanted to marry him.

D: Well, I’ve known Katie for the last 7 years, and shortly after meeting her I knew I wanted to marry her. Somewhere in these past 7 years I went from liking her to loving her, but I can’t give an exact moment. I would have to say it happened over time with every moment spent with her.

What was the proposal like?

K: Perfect. Honestly, it was perfect. I would not have had it any other way. He surprised me early in the morning, got work off for me from the Starbucks 4:30am shift (he’s amazing), and took me up to the Hanging Lakes near Glenwood Springs. We hiked up to the lake, set or packs down, and I wanted to take a picture. No one was there, the sun was coming up, and without me knowing, he set up his camera to take several shots in a row. I thought we were just taking one. We posed the first, and after that he pulled out the ring and proposed. J After that we had a wonderful, romantic brunch at the base of the lake and hiked around.

D: To be honest it wasn’t what I really wanted to do, but due to time and money constraint, it seemed the best option. I planned to take her to Hanging Lakes near Glenwood Springs in Colorado, and unknowingly to her already asked her manager for her to have the day off from work. I surprised her at 4:30am, from there we drove to Hanging Lakes, did a short hike up to the lake, and proposed as the sun was coming over the ridge. I had packed a fun meal (in honesty, my sister and brother-in-law made it J). We sat and ate that as the sun came up.

What was the best part of your wedding day?

K: For sure, it was being at the alter with David, saying vows, but the best part over all was when we were pronounced man and wife. In that moment, something supernatural happened and we both felt it, God had just joined us together.

D: Without a doubt, the moment we were declared man and wife.

What was is your favorite memory from your wedding day?

K-Being at the alter, saying vows, and being pronounced man and wife.

D-Barring things too intimate to share, I would have to say my two favorite memories would be seeing Katie come down the aisle with her father, and visiting with friends and family with my new wife.

Do you have any advice for future brides and grooms?

K-Make sure Jesus is first and foremost, the pursuit of your life. Pray about everything, specifically in wedding planning. Even if it seems too small and insignificant to ask the Lord for, ask Him. Make every request known to Him because He cares so much  about it all. My last piece of advice would be to go somewhere local and nice the first few nights.

D-Make sure the Lord is above everything else in your heart and in your life. Come ready and willing to give all that you are. Enjoy and cherish every moment of dating, being engaged, and planning a wedding. Make sure you go somewhere local and nice for your first night or two.
