When we first met Amanda and Joel, we knew we were in for a treat getting to be their wedding videographer. Their Larkspur venue was stunning and of course the bride and groom were as happy as can be. But let’s start at beginning of their story.

The Meet Cute

For most people, college provides so many new opportunities and this couldn’t be more true for Amanda and Joel. They found their greatest adventure when they met at the University of Iowa and worked at the same restaurant together. Joel persistently asked Amanda out every Sunday until she said yes…and then they ended up falling in love. The couple dated throughout college but decided to say their goodbyes as their paths drifted apart. While they remained friends over the years, eventually Amanda decided to reach out and ask Joel if they could give it another try. Amanda and Joel dated for a year and a half long distance, before Amanda decided to make the big move to Colorado.

The Larimer Square Proposal

Over a span of nine and half years of friendship and dating, Amanda and Joel left the Midwest and found themselves making a life in the Rocky Mountains. One of Amanda’s favorite spots was Larimer Square in downtown Denver and it made for the perfect spot for Joel to propose. He led Amanda to a small courtyard off of the Square and asked her to marry him. With a friend there to capture the special moment, Amanda said yes to forever with Joel.

Wedding Day Bliss

On the day of their wedding, we went to capture their wedding video at the wonderful Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado. Family and friends gathered from 12 different states to witness the union of Amanda and Joel. Most importantly, the wedding day was filled with love, laughter, and joy as Amanda and Joel were surrounded by their loved ones.

The Rocky Mountains were the perfect backdrop to the exchanging of “I do’s.” Because they wanted to keep the ceremony intimate, they had a live trio provide music, a close friend acted as the officiant, and family members gave several readings. Amanda and Joel loved their first look and Joel treasured watching his bride walk down the aisle to him.

The party started right after the ceremony as the bridal party jumped on the party bus to the reception site. On the bus, they popped champagne and jammed out to the music.

Top it Off With West Indies Honeymoon

Amanda and Joel spent their honeymoon in Nevis, West Indies. There, they went ziplining through St. Kitts Rainforest, visited Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, went horseback riding on the beach and through the mountainside, snorkeling and paddle boarding in the Caribbean Ocean, visited local restaurants and bars, and, of course, relaxed on the beach!
