This past September, Chelsea + Jonathan tied the knot in Lyons, CO. COVID delayed their plans, but they finally pulled off a stunning riverside wedding. We were lucky enough to celebrate with them and create their Lyons Wedding Film.
Hot for Teacher
Okay, so maybe Jonathan wasn’t really Chelsea’s teacher, but his likeness to one of her professors was the reason the couple connected in the first place. Chelsea spotted Jon at the Sundown Saloon in Boulder and thought he looked just like one of her professors. They ended up talking, and Chelsea asked if Jonathan would come to her class on April Fool’s Day and impersonate her professor. To her shock, he agreed. They ultimately decided not to go through with it but met for lunch instead. Their relationship took off from there.
Five years later, Chelsea and Jonathan planned a trip to Puerto Rico. Jonathan planned to propose during the trip, so he was devastated when he missed the delivery driver the day before they were set to leave. They were living in NYC at the time, so Jon got on his bike and rode all over SoHo, asking every FedEx driver he could find if they had the ring. His hard work paid off; Jonathan finally found the right driver. He proposed on the beach at sunset as he had planned.
Riverside Wedding| A Lyons Wedding Film
COVID postponed their wedding twice, but they had extra time to plan their dream wedding. Chelsea did most of the design herself. They decided to exchange their vows privately. It took a lot of pressure off the moment and allowed them to fully take in the ceremony later. In another memorable moment, Chelsea’s bridesmaids all wrote her a personal letter and read them to her before the first look. Later, the DJ surprised them by having their names lit up against the rocks behind the river. Chelsea and Jonathan felt very loved throughout the day and were elated to finally spend time will all of their friends and family.
Chelsea + Jonathan are both great storytellers. They placed a bowl of ice breakers on each table and then had each guest write down one thing they would remember from the day. The icebreakers were a big hit and were a great way for friends and family to get to know one another. Chelsea and Jonathan will be able to go back and relive this fantastic day through the eyes of their guests anytime by reading through their memories.
Celebrations in Cabo
Jonathan and Chelsea decided to get far away from the mountains and head back to the beach for their honeymoon. They stayed at a relaxing resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Their sea-kayaking excursion turned into quite an adventure when half of the group had to be rescued by boat because their kayaks had sunk. Lucky for Chelsea, Jonathan was on the rowing team, so he could keep them calm and safe. They also witnessed the release of baby sea turtles into the ocean, making their vacation unforgettable.
When we asked the couple what it was like working with Aflatis, they shared,
“I work in advertising and have the privilege of working with very talented cinematographers, directors, and editors, so I was REALLY picky when it came to our videographer. I visited dozens and dozens of websites and watched countless wedding videos looking for the style I wanted. I came across one of Adam’s films on Vimeo and was immediately obsessed. The storytelling, the pacing, the eye for detail, all of it was exactly what I was looking for. I felt so lucky he was available on our big day. The video captures it exactly how I remember it. Jon and I were so incredibly happy with the final result. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone!”
