San Diego Wedding Video | Nicole + Andrew

While we are based in Colorado, at Aflatis, we always jump at the opportunity to be a part of couple’s wedding days all over the country and even the world. That is why we were so excited to film Andrew and Nicole’s special day, capturing their San Diego wedding video. But before we get to that, we have to share how this brilliant couple met.

Cut From the Same Cloth

Andrew and Nicole first crossed paths when Andrew was working in San Francisco for an apparel company. He also sent a weekly newsletter, called “The WeekEnder.” Nicole had a friend working alongside Andrew and she was also on the mailing list for his newsletters. Nicole got a kick out of one of Andrew’s newsletters. Right away, she messaged her friend who worked with him. She mentioned that, “she’d probably end up dating the guy who wrote it, unless it was Lauren [her friend], in which case she may have to ‘switch teams.'”

Needless to say, Nicole was impressed with Andrew. One week later, to the day, Andrew received a friend request from Nicole on Facebook. That night, Andrew —after a few drinks—sent Nicole a message saying, “Please send me your phone %.” The next day Nicole responded to the typo with, “Sitting at a cool 100, but here’s my phone # just in case.”

From there, Andrew was hooked.  Nicole was making her way to San Francisco for a friend’s birthday. She would finally have a chance to meet Andrew. Prior to the party, they had been sending texts back and forth. Andrew had jokingly sent Nicole a “Hello My Name Is” nametag so that he could find her at the birthday party. When Andrew showed up at the party, he found Nicole wearing the nametag. He knew that they would be together for a long time.

African Proposal

Three years later and Nicole and Andrew were headed on a trip of a lifetime—a 10 day vacation exploring the lands of Africa. Andrew planned to propose to Nicole on the trip. The day before they left Andrew received the blessing of her parents. Both set of parents wanted the proposal to be videoed. So, Andrew took the opportunity to pitch an African music video to Nicole to go with Justin Timberlake’s, “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” She loved the idea and it was the perfect excuse for Andrew to have a camera going all the time.

The two, along with their friends, danced their way through Africa. They were in Cape Town at Lion’s Head Mountain busting out their latest dance moves when Andrew got down on one knee and proposed. Nicole gave a resounding “yes!” The African ring Andrew bought at a Zimbabwe market was just the right touch to the special and life-changing moment.

We Laughed, We Cried

Nicole and Andrew exchanged their personally written vows in front of family and friends on the fairway of the first hole at the La Jolla Country Club. One of their favorite moments was sharing their vows and hearts with all of their loved ones. The sunset added the perfect backdrop during their cocktail hour.

There were two things Nicole and Andrew could not stop talking about after the wedding. The first was their vendors and the second was the groomsmen. They were so impressed with all of their vendors and the attention to detail each one put into make Nicole and Andrew’s day special.

The groomsmen were a highlight of the night as they lit up the dance floor with all their moves. A unique element of the reception was the glow-in-the-dark dessert. Plus there were plenty of glow sticks that made their way to the dance floor. It was a night that Nicole and Andrew did not want to end.

What Was It Like Having Adam Create Your San Diego Wedding Video?

When asked what it was like working with Adam, Andrew and Nicole said, “Adam is the man. We heard about him through our photographer Steve Stanton, and I can’t emphasize this enough. The Aflatis team is AMAZING. They are supportive, empathetic, and just great people who are looking to make the most important day in people’s lives the best it can be. We quickly aligned our vision with Adam’s and really gave him carte blanche to get the shots and implement his creative eye. It was a wild ride and we’re glad he and the rest of the team could be a part of it.”
