Lots of people say they want to marry their best friend. But with Jamie and Nathan, this truly is the case. Jamie and Nathan were friends for many years before their friendship turned into more than that. And when they asked us to create their South Denver wedding film at one of our favorite venues—Spruce Mountain Ranch—how could we say no?
Friendship and Adventures
Jamie and Nathan have what many people desire for their relationship—many years of friendship under their belt and lots of adventures in the books. For five years, the two hung out as friends, going to concerts and sports events. But then, a spark emerged and the two became a couple.
Jamie describes them getting together as, “unexpected, yet pleasant.” She also used the same phrase to define the next two phases of their life. First came a move to California, which seemed like a big step for these Colorado natives. But then came an even larger move to Dubai. Both moves happened unexpectedly but Jamie and Nathan embraced the change and made the most of it. While in Dubai, they visited 15 different countries and created endless memories.
Not an April Fool’s Joke!
Throughout these moves, and then another move back to Colorado, Jamie and Nathan treasured their life together. Then, Nathan decided to ask Jamie to marry him on April 1st, 2018. Jamie’s initial response was, “This better not be an April Fool’s Joke!”
But aside from the potential for pranks, it actually was the perfect day to get engaged. In 2018, April Fool’s Day and Easter fell on the same day. So, all of Jamie’s family was there for the proposal and they got to see Nathan’s family later that day.
Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding
Since these two are Colorado natives, there was no better place to wed than Spruce Mountain Ranch. There were so many incredible moments of the day, like Jamie and Nathan’s first dance and the father/daughter dance.
However, some of the most memorable happenings were those unplanned moments. For example, one of the groomsmen forgot his shoes and had an Uber bring them to the venue! And one bridesmaid accidentally ordered the wrong dress. But within the last 24 hours before the wedding, she tracked down the correct one—thank you, Nordstrom!
Their pastor shared during their ceremony that he actually hopes that something goes a little wrong on the wedding day. It just reiterates that in marriage we face challenges, but we can make it through them if we do it together.
Overall, it was a wonderful celebration and we are so happy for you, Jamie and Nathan! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! If you want to see their wedding film, click here.
What Was It Like Having Aflātis Create Your South Denver Wedding Film?
When we asked Jamie and Nathan what they liked about working with Adam and the team, Jamie said, “My husband and I met Adam when he had done our friend’s wedding. Since then, he has done multiple friends weddings and I’ve always loved his work.
While I had never looked into any type of vendor prior to my engagement, I always knew Aflātis was who I wanted for my wedding videography once that day came!”
