Towering mountain peaks, a stunning hotel setting, and the radiant couple Kathleen and Bryan made for a fantastic Rocky Mountain wedding experience this past summer. We were so thankful to record their Vail wedding film. But before we go into the details of the wedding day, we must share how these two met and fell in love.
Long Distance Love
Kathleen and Bryan were first introduced while Kathleen was living in New York City but planning a move back to Colorado. Kathleen’s co-worker suggested she meet one of his best friends who lived in Denver. Brian and Kathleen went on a date while she was back visiting over the holidays. They hit it off right away. However, it took a few months for Kathleen’s work to approve her relocation. So they dated long-distance for the first five months of their relationship.
Proposal Re-Do
After dating for two years, Brian knew he wanted to ask Kathleen to be his wife. They planned a trip to Italy to celebrate Kathleen’s 30th birthday and Brian was going to propose on the trip. But they ended up having to cancel the trip at the last minute due to difficulties with the renovation of their condo.
They scheduled a last minute trip to Southern California instead. While walking on the beach, Kathleen realized Bryan was lagging. It was getting dark so Kathleen couldn’t tell what he was doing. But when as she approached, she realized he was down on one knee with a ring. It was everything she’d ever hoped for.
Beautiful Nuptials at Sonnenalp Vail
Kathleen and Bryan exchanged vows on August 4th, 2018 surrounded by friends and family at the Sonnenalp Vail hotel. The couple had so many highlights from their wedding day, but a few stand out looking back. The ceremony was especially memorable—officiated by a family member with many siblings in the wedding party as well.
Finding ways to include Kathleen’s mother was an essential part of the day since she passed away from ovarian cancer when Kathleen was young. Perhaps the most fun way was having a family first dance instead of a traditional first dance. The family danced to “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” which was one of Kathleen’s mother’s favorite songs. Kathleen and Bryan also donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Society instead of party favors.
When all was said and done, the day felt perfect, and there was no better way to start their future together. Thank you, Kathleen and Bryan, for letting us be a part of your wedding day!
What Was it Like Having Aflatis Create Your Vail Wedding Film?
When asked what it was liking working with Adam, Kathleen explained, “We heard about Adam because he did our friend’s wedding and it was AMAZING. I could not be happier with the way our video turned out.”
