Wind and Sea Estate is one of our favorite places to make a Big Sur wedding film, but Kenlyn + Rian’s wedding is one for the books. This couple’s love story is so moving, and we were honored to play a role in telling it.

Just Friends

Kenlyn and Rian met while they were both living in a co-living space for health and wellness entrepreneurs in Venice Beach. Rian had recently moved to California from Ireland and Kenlyn had just moved to Venice as well.

They slowly became friends and one day Rian asked Kenlyn to go to a dance event with him and his friends. Rian’s friends knew he was notorious for bailing on social events, so they messed with Rian by not telling him the event was cancelled. So, when Kenlyn and Rian showed up and the studio was closed they spent the day together adventuring through the town and beach. 

From there on out, they started hanging out every day. Each night they’d go on fun outings together and it felt exactly at it should when two people are falling in love. They took a photo together during this time of being “just friends” and Rian sent it to his mom. She said she knew then they would get married! Rian’s mother was right, because after only four months Rian asked Kenlyn to marry him. 

They’d already been talking about their future together, and Kenlyn’s parents had even given Rian her grandmother’s engagement ring. So Kenlyn was always on the lookout for a proposal. When she finally gave up trying to figure it out, Rian woke her up early and took her to the beach. It couldn’t have been more perfect. The dolphins were jumping and playing and Kenlyn and Rian ran into the water too. Then Rian took Kenlyn to the top of a lifeguard tower and gave her a bracelet and a letter proposing. He got down on one knee, and of course Kenlyn said “yes!”

A Moving Big Sur Wedding Film

Kenlyn and Rian had a beautiful intimate wedding at Wind and Sea Estate in Big Sur. Their Big Sur wedding film is one of our favorites! Since only the family attended the wedding, they got to spend a lot of special time together, playing in the ocean the morning before the wedding and being a part of the ceremony itself. Each family member brought an object that represented a wish for Kenlyn and Rian and presented it to them during the ceremony. 

One unique feature of the Wind and Sea Estate that Kenyln and Rian both loved were the outdoor cooper soak tubs. They got to spend some time, just the two of them, relaxing and being close, taking in the Pacific Ocean views before the ceremony. Another one of Rian’s highlights was the incredible dinner, provided by Savory Events. Every moment was so special and dear, both Kenlyn and Rian shared that they loved every moment.

What’s Next?

Moving forward, Kenlyn and Rian are excited to dive into the blessing that is marriage. They are treasuring the small things—dinners together, evening walks, and laughing. And in the future, they are looking forward to spending time exploring Ireland with Rian’s family.

When we asked what it was like working with Adam and Aflātis, Kenlyn responded,

“We heard about Adam/Aflātis through the website of our wedding venue— he was one of the featured vendors. I watched all of his films and just fell in love with his style. I looked at so many different wedding videographers, but just couldn’t forget how incredible Adam’s films were. 

From the minute I reached out, I knew it was a perfect fit. Adam was AMAZING to work with, I could not recommend him more. He was so kind and flexible with us, and made sure that we felt like a priority to him despite our wedding being so small. Because it was such an intimate group, I was nervous that we would feel strange having someone filming the whole time. But Adam felt like a part of the family, and we all loved having him there. We felt so comfortable in front of the camera, and he and Holly (our photographer) were such a great team. You can’t go wrong with Adam as your wedding videographer!!!”
