Winter weddings are always unique and fun. But the Lake Tahoe wedding film I had the opportunity to create for Jaclyn and Keith is one for the books! This adventurous couple skied in bride and groom garb and popped a bottle of champagne right near the lift! They got windblown by the gorgeous lake and got congratulatory honks and hollers from dozens of cars and passersby. Here’s how it all got started.

A Lake Tahoe Proposal

Jackie and Keith first met in 2015 in Boston, where they both attended a booze cruise/electronic music concert! With such a fun meeting, it’s no wonder the couple spent the next four years dating and having all sorts of exciting experiences together. 

When Keith got ready to propose, the couple jokes that it was a surprise to everyone except Jackie. They met up with Keith’s family at Lake Tahoe, and the couple played it cool around them. While the family was confused why they weren’t taking advantage of six inches of fresh powder, Jackie + Keith ventured into the snow-covered forest where Keith proposed. Their photographer Holly Shankland was also in on it, capturing the whole thing on camera. Upon returning, their family was stunned!

Lake Tahoe Wedding Film | Squaw Valley Ski Resort

Since skiing is a central part of Jaclyn and Keith’s relationship, it was only natural for them to get married at a ski resort and have a celebratory ski day afterward. So, the couple tied the knot on March 18, 2021, at the beautiful Squaw Valley Ski Resort at Lake Tahoe. They celebrated their reception there too. And one of their favorite memories of that day was when a random couple celebrating their first anniversary in the lodge gifted them a bottle of champagne! Everyone at the resort was so pleased to see weddings happening again after COVID.

Then, in true Jackie + Keith fashion, they had a ski day the following day where they went skiing as bride and groom. Jackie even skied in her wedding dress! They also had coordinated hats, coats, and goggles—black for Keith and white for Jackie. I even had a first as a videographer and hit the slopes with them to get footage of them skiing together!

What’s Next

As Jackie + Keith walk through their first year of marriage, they’ve relocated to Denver. They love living in a city so close to adventures in the mountains. And, they look forward to getting into mountain biking, rock climbing, and of course, all the amazing skiing close by.

When we asked the couple what it was like working with Aflātis, they shared, 

“Holly Shankland, our photographer, recommended Adam to us. We really enjoyed working with Adam as he was very easygoing and well organized. He and Holly worked together so well. They captured our intimate moments without being burdensome or obvious about it. 

Adam even agreed to our crazy plan to have him come skiing with us on Friday to capture that side of our story. Despite some pretty gnarly weather and difficult skiing conditions, Adam worked with Holly and her assistant to make sure we got everything we wanted.”
